In a transformative effort to empower young women, Ms. Rebecca Osam, Managing Director of Reflo Company Ltd, partnered with the Florence Mensah Foundation to launch the “Helping 1000 Girls to Embrace Their Flow” initiative at Kedzi-Havedzi A.M.E Zion Basic School in Ghana’s Volta Region. The project commenced with a substantial donation of Reflo’s sanitary pads, providing a six month supply to 300 girls in Keta Kedzi.

The initiative’s inaugural event took place amidst a mini durbar, attended by esteemed guests including Torgbui Joachim Acolatse V who is the Duffia of Kedzi and chairman of the Kedzi Traditional Authority, Mr. Hedzi, head of Kedzi-Havedzi A.M.E Zion Basic School and the District Chief Executive.

Ms. Rebecca Osam delivered a poignant address underscoring the initiative’s broader impact. “We are not merely launching a program; we are igniting a movement that will foster awareness, understanding, and lasting change in the lives of our girls. This endeavor aims to cultivate confidence, self-worth, and empowerment, nurturing these qualities within our young women,” she articulated passionately.

Nurse Judith provided insightful guidance during a health talk, emphasising the significance of menstrual hygiene and encouraging girls to embrace menstruation as a natural and empowering aspect of womanhood. The Reflo’s Ladies also did a practical demonstration where they spoke about proper pad usage and disposal techniques and general education on hygiene practices.

The event also featured engaging student performances, including a thought-provoking drama highlighting the advantages of sanitary pads over traditional cloth methods. The representative from the Directorate of Education expressed profound gratitude for the foundation’s initiative and urged sustained support for other communities facing similar challenges.

Concluding the event, Ms. Rebecca and Madam Florence Mensah helped distribute the initial six month’s supply of Reflo’s sanitary pads to 300 menstruating girls, with plans to revisit the same 300 girls with the additional three month’s supply marking a year’s supply. Through this collaborative effort, Reflo Company Ltd and the Florence Mensah Foundation aspire to inspire others to champion community well-being, ensuring every girl can embrace her journey with dignity and confidence.
