The Students’ Representative Council of the University of Cape Coast, in collaboration with the Barbara Asher Foundation, hosted a significant event titled “Female Fusion: The Role of a 21st Century Woman” during the Femme Fest 24 Women’s Week celebration. The theme of the event was “Stand Out, Inspire Change.”
Ms. Rebecca Osam, the managing director of Reflo Company Ltd, was invited as a guest speaker. In her address, she emphasised the importance of multitasking, resilience, and independence in achieving success. “My journey to success aligns perfectly with the theme ‘Stand Out, Inspire Change’,” she stated. She advised aspiring female leaders to harness their strengths, embrace multitasking as a superpower, and build strong, empathetic connections.
Key speakers at the event included Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi, Adina, Prof. Eunice Fay Amissah, and Alimatu-Sadia Yussif. Each shared insights into their personal journeys and the qualities that have driven their success. Ms. Osam highlighted the significance of financial independence, focus, and setting clear targets. She encouraged women to be their own cheerleaders, maintain tenacity, and plan with a long-term perspective.
Reflecting on her entrepreneurial journey, Ms. Rebecca shared how she registered her company in 2014 and faced multiple restarts. She spoke passionately about the importance of resilience and fearlessness in overcoming challenges. Addressing the audience, she said, “To inspire change, you have to speak up and never let anyone intimidate you.”
The event also featured a panel discussion where the guest speakers delved into their inspirations and experiences. Ms. Rebecca credited her mother as her inspiration, highlighting the determination and independence she inherited from her.
To conclude the event, Reflo’s sanitary pads were distributed among attendees. Ms. Rebecca explained that the product was designed to empower women, ensuring they feel comfortable and unstoppable.
Femme Fest 24 successfully highlighted the critical role of women in the 21st century, encouraging participants to stand out and inspire change in their communities.
